VOX & JACKS
Biography
VOX & JACKS are Bart Callaerts and Achiel Keppens. All dynamic duos have pseudonyms :-)
Since the early 90s, Vox and Jacks have been involved in several musical adventures. They are musically connected by their admiration for electronic music (in the broadest sense).
After an unforgettable trip with their former electro pop band Rekash (on the PIAS label) with gigs in places like Café d'Anvers & line-ups with DJ/producers like Dr Lektroluv, MANDY, …, Achiel & Bart continued as producer duo "Vox & Jacks". Experimenting more than ever with electronic music and re-inventing old school house music by combining a typical retro flavour with a very recognizable Vox & Jacks sound.
Vox & Jacks became inspired by the so called "Madchester" scene of the 80s & 90s - people like Jon DaSilva, A Guy Called Gerald, Mike Pickering, Graeme Park, New Order, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses etc.
Throughout 2008-2009 Vox & Jacks spent most of their time in their studio recording of what was planned to be a first full-cd: "Coco Brice". This record contains 12 tracks with a clear common denominator of catchy piano loops and dito bass lines.
Although the Coco Brice album has not been officially released, people like Mark Moore (S-Express) and Graeme Park (resident at the legendary Haçienda club in Manchester) were very positive about it. The record did not end up in the charts (as it was never released)... In stead, it ended up in the I-pod of Graeme Park himself. A nice compliment...
Mid 2009, Vox & Jacks teamed up with DJ Prinz and producer MAKS, founders of the Push It Records label and organizers of the notorious Push It parties (if you have never heard about these parties, you have been living on Jupiter for the last 5 years :-)). It was the perfect timing for Vox & Jacks to finally release the music of their Coco Brice album.
A first Vox & Jacks EP release on Push It Records is planned for April 2010, with a new video and remixes by icons like CJ Bolland and Graeme Park.
To celebrate this, a release event is planned for April 30 2010 at Stereo Sushi (Antwerp) with a "first time ever in Belgium gig" by Graeme Park + exclusive shows by Sven "Svengali" Van Hees, DJ Prinz and a live set by Vox & Jacks.
Join Vox & Jacks at "A NIght At The Haçienda" on April 30 in Stereo Sushi, Antwerp!
